The Africa Business Program hosts many events and activities throughout the year, including:
The First Whitman School Conference on Africa – Entrepreneurship in Africa
April 2-3, 2010
Organized by Peter Koveos, the Kiebach Chair for International Business Studies, Pierre Yourougou, visiting associate professor of finance, Larry Bennett, the Whitman Assistant Professor of Entrepreneurship Practice, and Ben Amoako-Adu, the Economical Insurance Group Professor of Finance at Wilfrid Laurier University.

Marilou Uy, sector director of the Africa Region's Financial and Private Sector Development Department, World Bank
Lemma W. Senbet, the William E. Mayer Chair Professor of Finance at the Smith School of the University of Maryland, College Park
Registration fee: $75, covers the conference dinner and luncheon.

Africa Business Seminar
May 11-22, 2009
A trip to Johannesburg, South Africa, and Kampala, Uganda, including visits to Development Bank of South Africa, Johannesburg Stock Exchange, Johannesburg Bond Exchange, Tours of Soweto, the Nile, and Equator, Bank of Uganda, and Bujagali Hydro-Power Dam.
Special issue on Africa of Journal of Developmental Entrepreneurship (JDE)
A special edition of the Journal of Developmental Entrepreneurship (JDE), called "Entrepreneurship and Africa," will be published in 2010. Submissions are due on November 30, 2009. Submissions should be directed to jde@syr.edu. Papers submitted for the Entrepreneurship in Africa conference will be considered for publication in the journal, following a double-blind review process.
