The Whitman marketing department includes three distinct but interconnected areas:


Students of marketing are expected to appreciate the interrelatedness of the perspectives of consumers, intermediaries (i.e. retailers), and manufacturers.

In the Whitman School, marketing is the largest undergraduate major and an MBA concentration area. The marketing curriculum is flexible and can accommodate interdisciplinary interests. Students can pick and choose from a wide menu of elective courses to build expertise in product management, sales management, marketing communication, and marketing research. In addition, students have the opportunity to pursue a dual major by combining mainstream marketing topics with areas such as supply chain management, retail management, and entrepreneurship—all within the Whitman School—and with advertising, in SU's  Newhouse School of Public Communication.
