Retail Management

Undergraduate Majors

The undergraduate retail management program at the Whitman School of Management provides students with a well-rounded, balanced education in management, including a strong theoretical education in retail and practical experience in the field. In the classroom, students learn of the evolution of the domestic and global retail marketplace and the integral connections that occur at every link in the supply chain. With this knowledge, students enter the field as early as their sophomore year through internships in the specialized areas of buying, product development, store management, and marketing.

While at Whitman, students enjoy support and guidance from high-profile retail advisory board members including senior executives from Macy's, Bloomingdale’s, Donna Karan, Ann Taylor, Crate and Barrel, and New York & Company. Whitman graduates are placed highly in the retail industry at both store and corporate levels in specialized careers including buyers, store managers, apparel product developers, and sales/marketing representatives.
