Africa Business Program
The mission of the Africa Business Program in the Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University is to facilitate partnerships between businesses in Central New York and countries in Africa; enhance the business community’s readiness of entering into business relationships with Africa; promote faculty research and interest in business in Africa; and increase Africa-related knowledge among students.


Ballentine Investment Institute
The Ballentine Investment Institute was established in 1992 by an endowment from Whitman School alumnus Steve Ballentine ’83 BS, president and CEO of Ballentine Capital Management Inc., an investment management firm he founded in 1989. The Ballentine Investment Institute offers students sophisticated tools used by investment professionals as well as materials to support learning, research, and professional development. With a mission to offer an unparalleled investment education to Whitman students, the Ballentine Investment Institute provides access to state-of-the-art capabilities for company and market research.


George E. Bennett Center for Accounting & Tax Research
The George E. Bennett Center for Tax Research strives to expand educational opportunities through grant money issued to faculty and students based on research proposals. This resource allows the Whitman community to be immersed in new knowledge and developments in the fields of accounting and taxation. The Bennett Center was created with a gift from James Francis Toole ’24 BS, to honor longtime professor of accounting in the Whitman School, the late George E. Bennett.


Robert H. Brethen Operations Management Institute
In collaboration with Whitman’s nationally recognized supply chain management program, the Robert H. Brethen Operations Management Institute supports Whitman students and faculty with funding for scholarships and research that support the field of supply chain management. Established in 1985 by Harold Croghan, the Brethen Institute was developed in honor of Robert Brethen '49 BS, former CEO of Celstar Group Inc.

The Brethen Institute also supports SU’s chapter of APICS, an international professional society representing manufacturing, service, and resource management professionals. APICS provides students and supply chain professionals with networking opportunities through meetings, seminars, plant tours, and other activities.


Center for Ethics and Leadership
The Center for Ethics and Leadership was developed to instill in students a passion and understanding for best practices in business ethics and excellence in leadership. The center is dedicated to immersing the Whitman community—and the SU community at-large—in a week of intense focus on ethical issues. The center’s annual Ethics Week provides for discussion on the important topics of ethics and leadership in today’s society. Events such as these are funded in part by the James S. Kemper Foundation, an independent, private foundation established to provide funding for higher education initiatives.


Michael J. Falcone Center for Entrepreneurship

The Falcone Center for Entrepreneurship in affiliation with the Whitman School of Management’s Department of Entrepreneurship and Emerging Enterprises strives to immerse students and the larger Syracuse community in the spirit of entrepreneurship. The Falcone Center focuses on outreach efforts, offering a portfolio of innovative programs and initiatives for various constituencies. These programs are organized into three areas: student and campus-focused initiatives, community outreach, and venture creation from emerging technologies.


H.H. Franklin Center for Supply Chain Management
The H.H. Franklin Center for Supply Chain Management was established in 1920 through the generous donation of a local industrialist and founder of the Franklin Automobile Company. For decades, the center has had a rich history in supporting student and faculty activities, fostering an environment full of excitement and knowledge in the field of supply chain management.

In collaboration with Whitman’s nationally recognized supply chain management program, the Franklin Center for Supply Chain Management strives to bring together Whitman students, faculty, alumni, and working supply chain professionals in sharing research and advancements in supply chain management. The Franklin Center carries out its mission through the support of the Franklin Student Group, a student-run organization that provides networking and learning experiences for students interested in supply chain management.


Walter and Olivia Kiebach Center for International Business Studies
The Olivia and Walter Kiebach Center for International Business Studies promotes international business expertise in the teaching, scholarship, and service of the Whitman faculty. The Kiebach Center also works to increase student appreciation, knowledge, and career development in international business.


Kuhn Real Estate Center
The James D. Kuhn Real Estate Center at the Whitman School of Management was established in 2006 by an endowment from James D. Kuhn ’70 BS, ’72 MBA, president of Newmark Knight Frank, the fourth-largest global real estate brokerage firm in the world. The Kuhn Real Estate Center gives students the opportunity to integrate their education in finance with an exciting education in real estate. Success in the real estate industry now requires international networks, and the study of finance and real estate are merging to produce optimal results. Activities and scholarship of the Kuhn Real Estate Center will give students an understanding of how these two fields integrate, preparing them to become innovators in the field.


Harry E. Salzberg Memorial Program
Since 1949 the Harry E. Salzberg Memorial Program has presented Salzberg Medallions to individuals and companies in recognition of outstanding achievement in or contributions to the fields of transportation, logistics, and supply chain management. The Salzberg program is held annually at Syracuse University’s Whitman School of Management to honor the winners of the Salzberg Medallions. The event brings together members of the SU community, policymakers from all levels of government, and executives from the national business community for an award ceremony featuring lectures from the medallion recipients and presentations from distinguished professionals and select students.

The Harry E. Salzberg Memorial Program was founded with a grant made to Syracuse University by Murray M. Salzberg '37 BS, honoring his father's distinguished career in transportation. The Salzberg Program is a central component of Whitman School of Management's program in supply chain management, which combines rigorous course experiences with exceptional opportunities for student involvement in the professional transportation and supply chain management communities—spearheading student participation in professional associations, internships, competitions, and corporate visits.


Earl V. Snyder Innovation Management Center
The Earl V. Snyder Innovation Management Center is dedicated to the study and understanding of innovation management, providing Whitman students with the opportunity to delve into the diverse fields of business, law, engineering, and industrial design through an interdisciplinary curriculum. The innovation management program at the Whitman School was established in 1981, with the dedication of the Snyder Center occurring in 1993 through a generous endowment from the estate of Earl and Josephine Snyder. Due to the efforts of the Snyder Center, Whitman students are able to contribute to thriving innovation efforts in technology-based organizations, industrial products companies, and consumer goods companies and are recruited by companies such as Kodak, AT&T, IBM, and Lockheed Martin.


Sustainable Enterprise Partnership (SEP)
The Whitman School of Management, the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry, and the the Syracuse Center of Excellence in Environmental and Energy Systems form a unique collaboration providing world-class education and research on sustainable enterprise management. The SEP actively integrates business, science, policy, and practice to develop and provide graduate and undergraduate curricula, educational outreach, and research on sustainable enterprise, with particular emphasis on small and medium business enterprises (SMEs). Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse (TRAC)
The Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse (TRAC) was established in 1989 as a data gathering, research, and distribution center at Syracuse University. The organization exits for the sole purpose of supplying the public with information on the federal government's enforcement and regulatory efforts. TRAC services are free to the public and can be accessed by students through its Web site or the research center located in Newhouse II on SU’s campus.

TRAC promotes the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) which states that all federal government records must be made accessible to the general public. Though many organizations and individuals know of this act, they find it difficult to access government information. TRAC works to alleviate this problem by breaking down information into easy to read information graphics and data charts.
