I applied to the Stuart Frankel & Company NYSE Scholarship because it looked like a great way to learn about the exchange.  It ended up being not only that, but an extraordinary experience with great exposure to business and the benefits of success in today’s competitive world.

 

The trip began with a day on the New York Stock Exchange. While on the floor we watched a specialist carry out his job functions and gained insight into what Mr. Frankel’s company does. With the NYSE seats the Stuart Frankel Company holds, they carry out buy and sell orders for their clients.  The company creates value making large transactions as discreetly as possible to avoid market reaction which can create an increase in cost to the client.

 

The rest of the trip consisted of visits with dynamic people in the finance world who shared information with us on their respective careers. The trip was extremely well organized and provided us with an excellent spectrum of financial opportunities.  Each person we spoke with had unique experiences in investment management and was more than willing to share their expertise with us. 

 

Even more rewarding than the many diverse presentations we experienced was the time we spent with Mr. Frankel and his family. Mr. Frankel is a self-made business man who has accomplished extraordinary business feats. He and his family not only shared insight into their business with us, they also shared life lessons with us that will continue to impact my life in the future.

 

The Stuart Frankel NYSE Program supplied me with an unbelievable amount of knowledge about the financial world. The trip reinforced my passion for the capital markets and encouraged me to pursue a career in the field.  I cannot thank Mr. Frankel and Syracuse University enough for giving me the opportunity to participate in this valuable experience.
