David Greenberg Spring 2008 NYC Field Trip
Third Avenue Management and the New York Mercantile Exchange
Purpose
The David Greenberg Spring 2008 NYC Field Trip's goal is to provide select Whitman students with a frontline perspective of the New York Mercantile Exchange hosted by our sponsor David Greenberg ‘86, President, Sterling Commodities, and a meeting with Martin J. Whitman ’49 at Third Avenue Management.

What does the program involve?
Select students will spend the day in New York City. They will start with breakfast and a panel discussion with Martin Whitman and Third Avenue Management staff. From there students will tour the New York Mercantile Exchange, the world’s largest physical commodity futures exchange and the preeminent trading forum for energy and precious metals. Students will gain an invaluable and up-close look at the exciting trading floor operations, attend an informational seminar to learn more about the industry, and participate in a simulated trading experience on the trading floor.
When will the program take place?
The trip is scheduled for Friday, February 1, 2008. The trip is sponsored by David Greenberg to enable us to offer it to our students free of charge, including transportation to and from Manhattan, Third Avenue Management, and the Mercantile Exchange, as well as lunch at NYMEX. The bus will depart Syracuse early Friday morning, and return to Syracuse Friday evening.
Who can go?
Whitman Juniors, Seniors, MBA, and MS Students.
