10:30 AM - 12:00 PM Fall Reception for Prospective Undergraduate Students
The Whitman School will host an information program for prospective undergraduate students as part of SU's Fall Reception Day.  The morning program includes information about academic programs, out of the classroom opportunities and a tour of our facilities.  An Open House will be held in the afternoon.  For more information, contact Emily Yakawiak, (315) 443-3850 or egyakawi@syr.edu.
6:00 PM - 8:00 PM Human Resources Training: Understanding Employment Law

Join us for human resources training. In this session, the instructor will cover the topic of Understanding Employment Law. Participants will learn the following:

Part 1 (11/12):

- An overview of the process
- Regulations
- Federal vs. State
- Know what you don't know
 
Part 2 (11/19):
- Recordkeeping requirements, including retention
- Posting requirements
- Policies, including employee handbooks
- Mandatory vs. optional
- Miscellaneous regulations you need to know
- Salary vs. overtime
 
The instructor for this class is Kathy Barany, PHR - Strategic Management Solutions.
7:00 PM - 9:00 PM Whitman's Shark Tank Idea Jam
Whitman's IDEA connectors will be hosting an idea jam for students. The event will be mirrored from the television series "Shark Tank" with guest judges spanning from Whitman professor to various business owners of Marshall St. and the winner will receive a prize. The mission of the event is to increase the entrepreneurial spirit at Whitman.		Flaum Grand Hall
