Event Description:
The New York Family Business Center will hold one of its member meetings featuring a presentation by Professor Tom Lumpkin, the Witting Chair in Entrepreneurship at the Whitman School of Management.
The Family Business Landscape is a research-based “map” of seven major family business concerns and how they relate—strategy, governance, succession, family dynamics, family business roles, social and economic impact, and performance. Many family businesses focus on just one or two concerns even though research shows that the most successful family business have a long run perspective that integrates all seven concerns. With examples and evaluative tools in a workshop setting, Professor Lumpkin will help participants learn how to navigate the family business landscape in ways that align business goals with family priorities and maintains a focus on long term success.
