Ideal Candidate
No formula is employed in admission decision-making. The Whitman Admissions Committee seeks to develop a thorough understanding of each applicant before rendering a decision. Candidates are evaluated individually, with special consideration given to professional experience and accomplishments, including potential for career advancement. Other factors considered are the candidate's prior academic success, performance on GMAT, and communication skills as evidenced in the application essay.
Students are strongly encouraged to have at least two years of full-time work experience. This does not include working as a student assistant (Teaching Assistant, Lab Assistant, Grader, etc). We do accept a limited number of exceptionally qualified candidates with less than two years of work experience; these candidates must possess, among other criteria, exceptionally strong academic backgrounds, demonstrated leadership and a strong potential for success in business.
Historically, one of the Whitman School's greatest strengths has been the diversity of its student body. We continue to seek candidates with diverse racial, ethnic, social, academic, and professional backgrounds and career goals.
