Commodities Expert to Speak at Whitman, Dec. 3
The Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University will host a guest lecture by Allison Weingarten ‘01 BS, vice president of commodity operations at Goldman Sachs, on Dec. 3. Weingarten will offer her lecture in the Financial Management course at 12:30 p.m. in Room 104 and in the Financial Controls in Business course at 3:30 p.m. in Room 201. The lecture is titled “From SU to Structured Settlements.”
Weingarten began her career in the operations infrastructure analyst program at Morgan Stanley, where she was ultimately placed as an analyst in the electricity operations group. For two years, she was responsible for middle office, settlements, and commodity related projects. From there, she went joined the commodity operations client services team at Goldman Sachs. She has been part of several groups in that business unit including natural gas and electricity logistics group, where she has scheduled the physical receipt and delivery of the commodities. She has also been a short term trader in the Texas Power region. She currently is the manager of their structured settlements group which oversees the settlements of complex commodity transactions. Besides her involvement with commodity operations, Weingarten is also the campus recruiting champion for New York commodity operations.
