Inaugural Goldberg Technology and Innovation Prize awarded to Panasci Business Competition Semi-finalist Team PsyQic

The Falcone Center for Entrepreneurship, home of dreamers and doers, is proud to announce the first annual Goldberg Award for Technology and Innovation, sponsored by Lee Goldberg ’06 BS, co-founder and president of Vector Media Group.

The Goldberg Prize for Technology and Innovation is valued at $2,500 and recognizes the Panasci Business Plan Competition entry that leverages advanced use of technology to create a scalable, profitable venture that provides value to customers, society, and shareholders alike. The Goldberg Prize was established by Lee Goldberg, the co-founder and president of Vector Media Group, who is a 2006 graduate of the Whitman School of Management.

“Whitman is very excited to be able to offer a new award for innovation at the technology level,” notes Melvin Stith, Dean of the Whitman School. “We are honored that alumni Lee Goldberg chose to support our students and encourage entrepreneurial thinking in the advanced use of technology.”

This year’s recipient is Panasci semi-finalist PsyQic (pronounced “psychic”), which is a first-in-kind mobile/web service where people exchange questions and predictions about the future on various topics. By making correct predictions, users can gain online information credibility. PsyQic is a platform where people can learn about topics of interests, share predictions, and have fun. Team members include Keisuke Inoue, Bin Zhu, Laura Beachy, and Gabrielle Gosselin.

“PsyQic’s use of technology definitely impressed me,” notes Goldberg. “I think that there are uses for this technology beyond the application that they have created.”

Having worked with firms ranging from local start-ups to Fortune 100 companies, Goldberg specializes in Organic Search Engine Optimization (SEO), Web Analytics consulting, Conversion Rate Optimization, and Paid Search Management. Lee is a Google Adwords Qualified Partner, a Yahoo! Sponsored Search Ambassador, and a Microsoft adExcellence Member, and is a published author and frequent columnist on several industry websites.

Moving forward, winners will be selected from the semi-finalist teams entering the Panasci Business Plan Competition and will be announced at the annual Entrepreneurship Awards Ceremony.
