Originally from Atlanta, GA., Stephanie Scherer ’09 MBA/MPA is currently a budget analyst for the Department of the Army. Before arriving at the Whitman School, Stephanie was deployed in Afghanistan as part of Operation Enduring Freedom, where she managed a $1.5 billion budget.
“My best experience at Whitman was meeting all my fellow MBA students and learning from them,” says Stephanie. “I built relationships that I will carry for the rest of my career; it is an excellent networking base.”
Stephanie was chosen to participate in the Defense Comptrollership Program at Whitman, which is a specialized 14-month 60-credit Masters of Business Administration/Master Public Administration program. Says Stephanie, “This was an incredible opportunity for advancement within the civilian service. Selection for the Defense Comptroller Program is an incredible honor, as it the prominent Department of Defense program for budgetary education. The degree from Whitman enhances career potentials and will create a network of relationships that will be invaluable through my career. Now that I have graduated, I continue to work for the Department of Defense and over the next few years, I hope to move into a position that will have a greater impact on budget making policy.”
