Asim Mohammed '09 BS
Finance and Pre-med
Finance, Falcone Center for Entrepreneurship

Originally from Worcester, Mass., Asim Mohammed chose Syracuse University because he wanted to combine his pre-med studies with a finance degree from the Whitman School, hoping to gain the skills and tools necessary to lead in the world of finance and use those skills to help people.

As a senior finance major at Whitman, Asim works as an undergraduate assistant at the Falcone Center for Entrepreneurship and was selected as an intern in the spring of 2009 for the highly competitive D’Aniello Entrepreneurship Internship Program. Additionally, Asim served as the vice president for the Muslim Student Association of Syracuse University, and did work as a research assistant with SUNY Upstate Medical in the emergency department. Asim plans to attend medical school to become a doctor after graduation.

“Realizing that many doctors do not have the necessary skills to run a business combined with my desire to help people gave me the idea of being a doctor while managing a small business,” Asim says. “Looking back, majoring in finance with the aspirations of going to medical school was one of the best choices I have made in my life thus far. As a highly ranked business school, Whitman will help me reach my career goals through its intensive curriculum, prestigious professors, and prominent alumni network.”
