Minors
Earning a minor in a specialized field of management can complement any field of study, giving students the ability to become strategic thinkers and important decision makers two skills that are vital in any career. Minors are offered in all of the major areas of study within the Whitman School including:
Fast Facts on Management Minors
- Students must have permission from their home school or college and at least a 3.0 GPA in order to apply for a minor in the Whitman School.
- Minor declaration forms can be found in the Whitman Undergraduate Office in Suite 215 of the Whitman School.
- The form should be completed and returned to the Whitman Undergraduate Office by either November 1 of the fall semester or April 1 of the spring semester.
- If accepted, students are notified within two days of the deadline and asked to have the form signed by the home school or colleges undergraduate office.
- A maximum of one transfer course (three credits) taken at an institution outside of SU can be used toward the 18 credit hours needed to earn a minor in management. This must be approved by the Whitman Undergraduate Office.
- A maximum of 50 students a year will be admitted to each minor.
- Ideally students will begin pursuing their minor by sophomore year, first enrolling in ACC 201. Finance and accounting majors will enroll in ACC 151. No more than two courses should be taken for a minor each semester thereafter.
- Minors must have a minimum of four semesters to complete the minor requirements. Any student wishing to apply for a management minor after the spring of their sophomore year must have one or more courses completed or in progress.
