Dual Degrees and Double Majors

Dual Programs
The Whitman School, in cooperation with other schools and colleges within SU, offers students the opportunity to pursue two programs of study concurrently. Students enrolled in dual programs fulfill degree requirements in each school and receive one degree jointly conferred by both schools. Dual program require more than the 121 credits normally required for graduation but can often be completed within four years.

The Whitman School offers dual programs with the School of Information Studies and the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications.

Double Majors
You may take a double management major by fulfilling all requirements for any two management majors of your choice. If CPA-Accounting is one of the majors, you will need to complete a minimum of 132 hours for both majors; otherwise, double majors can be completed with 120 credit hours, but please be aware that double majors do not have any free electives. If you have already taken any free electives at the time that you decide to pursue a double major, you will need more than 120 credit hours to complete the two majors.

You can also complete a second major outside the Whitman School. Several departments will allow you to add their major without being enrolled in their school or college. Three common examples are economics or psychology (both in The College of Arts & Sciences), and speech communication (in the College of Visual and Performing Arts). Adding a major outside of the Whitman School increases the number of credits required for graduation.
