V-WISE is a three-phase program
PHASE 1: What’s first?
A 15-day online learning experience designed to teach participants the "language of business," how to understand opportunity recognition as it relates to growing a sustainable venture, and present actionable strategies related to new venture creation.
PHASE 2: Ready, Set, Goal!
The conference phase of the V-WISE experience, is a three-day training offered to cohorts of 200 women at locations across the country. The conference includes more than 20 distinct modules of training, designed for both new business owners and to support the needs of existing ventures. Delegates are exposed to successful entrepreneurs, CEOs of Fortune 500 companies and leaders in government. Upon completion of this phase participants will receive 2.7 continuing education units (documentation required).
PHASE 3: Keep Moving…
Following the conference, graduates are connected to ongoing support and community-building opportunities focused on small business creation and growth. This resource network includes both SBA-provided supportive services (Small Business Development Centers (SBDCs), Women's Business Centers (WBCs), Veterans' Business Outreach Centers (VBOCs), Service Corps of Retired Executives (SCORE) offices) as well as services provided by the IVMF and other IVMF partners to include American Corporate Partners (ACP), BoeFly, and Kiva Zip.
Is V-WISE for me?
The program is open to all female veterans, active duty female service members and female partners/spouses of active duty service members and veterans who share the goal of launching and growing a sustainable business venture. Participants may be from any branch of the military and any era of service. Participants must be able to complete the online component of the program and be able to travel to one of the mandatory conferences.
How do I apply?
We operate on a rolling admissions basis; therefore early application is highly encouraged. Please apply at http://whitman.syr.edu/vwise/apply/. Selection is based on proof of military status and demonstration of entrepreneurial passion on the application. We ask that spouses/partners of veteran business owners supply the DD214 or LES of the veteran. After your application is accepted by Syracuse University, a registration link will be sent via email. This registration link will allow for selection of the class schedule and payment of the $75.00 registration fee.
What will it cost?
The program is offered to qualified participants for a one-time $75 registration fee. Participants are responsible for their transportation costs to and from the on-site conference location (to include parking fees when applicable) and for dinner on the second evening of the conference. The cost of the program, lodging and all other meals during the residency, are funded by the SBA and private-sector partners secured by the IVMF.
*Cost assistance available (for the registration). Please email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
