April 2007
Message from the Dean

Despite wintry weather in Central New York, the Whitman School held an outstanding and successful fourth annual Whitman Day on April 16, to celebrate the naming of our school. Martin J. Whitman was in attendance, as was John Couri, chairman of the Syracuse University Board of Trustees, and Eric Spina, SU Vice Chancellor and Provost. Robert Morgenthau, district attorney for the county of New York spoke via satellite about trends in law enforcement; the Orange Value Fund gave an update on their investments; and faculty, students, and staff participated in an open forum on "What is Whitman?" The end of the day left us all in agreement that Whitman is a place of opportunity and achievement, and we're happy to be part of the Whitman family.
