Message from the Dean

The business world is changing rapidly with the growing trend towards globalization and the universal harnessing of new technologies. More than ever, companies seek candidates who possess a cross-disciplinary mindset, superior management skills, and a variety of practical, real-world experiences. After two years of analysis and planning, the Whitman School has restructured its fulltime MBA curriculum to address these emerging needs of the business world. The new Whitman MBA curriculum will enhance the critical elements of communications skills, ideation and innovation, information technology skills, and integration among functional areas, which are fundamental in today’s fast-paced business world. We are confident this restructured curriculum will greatly enhance our students' experiences.

AST&L

Whitman Recieves AST&L Blanket Waiver

The Whitman School will soon be added to a list of only 23 schools in the United States to receive a blanket waiver for the American Society of Transportation & Logistics (AST&L) certification. This blanket waiver will benefit students in the Supply Chain Management (SCM) program, allowing them to graduate with automatic AST&L certification in Transportation and Logistics. Our students will now be able to bypass a set of exams by enrolling in specific courses to be certified in Transportation and Logistics (CTL) upon graduation. Whitman students will now be even more marketable to employers with a strong knowledge in transportation, traffic, distribution, and materials management.

Whitman's New iMS in Accounting Program

The Whitman School proudly announces its new iMS in Accounting program, which expects soon to begin accepting new students for Fall 2007. The new iMS Accounting program prepares professionals for the expanded role accounting plays in business strategy, consulting, information management, and planning and decision-making. It also provides professionals the opportunity to earn an MS degree and meet the educational requirements for CPA licensure while working full-time. This is the only MS program of its kind in New York State.  For more information, contact iMS in Accounting program director Bill Walsh.

Oustanding Whitman Student

The Whitman School is actively involved in SU's ambitious Scholarship in Action mission--and one of our own Whitman students, Angelo Roefaro '07, was recently held up as an example of Scholarship in Action by Chancellor Nancy Cantor during an address to the campus community. On Jan. 23, Cantor expounded on Angelo's sentiments: “The words scholarship and action are powerful words because they imply that only in action, only in an intense desire, can we grow as individuals. When we enter Syracuse University, we must crave a discovery of new knowledge, our scholarship. When we leave Syracuse University, we must integrate that knowledge in order to have a new understanding for how we can change our world, our action.” At Whitman, we strive for all our students to have the same transforming experience as Angelo.
