Topping off a wonderful academic year, Whitman held two convocations this spring for our undergraduate and graduate students, and both were a great success. Maurice Harris

New Associate Dean for MBA & MS Programs

The Whitman School is pleased to announce the appointment of Maurice Harris as the new associate dean for MBA & MS programs. Harris joined Whitman as an assistant professor of finance in 2005 and previously taught at the University of New Hampshire and Bentley College. He has held positions with First City National Bank of Houston, the Government Finance Research Center, and Fidelity Investments. He earned his BS from Bowling Green State University, his MPA from the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at SU, and his PhD from Whitman. Harris succeeds Ravi Shukla, associate professor of finance, under whose leadership Whitman's MBA program thrived.





Outstanding Whitman Faculty

Congratulations to hardworking and talented Whitman School faculty: Ravi Dharwadkar was promoted to full professor of management in the Department of Management. David Harris was promoted to full professor of accounting in the Lubin School of Accounting. Catherine Maritan earned tenure as associate professor of management in the Department of Management. Additionally, Pamela Brandes, associate professor of management, and Yitzhak Fried, professor of management, were selected as the 2008-2010 Whitman Research Fellows, and Don Harter, assistant professor of management information systems, was selected as the 2008-2010 Whitman Teaching Fellow. Whitman Fellows are recognized biannually for their outstanding scholarly or teaching performance.






MBA Homecoming & Reunion Event, Sept. 20

Mark you calendars! During Homecoming & Reunion weekend, Whitman's MBA & MS programs will host a special event before kick-off on Saturday, September 20 in the Flaum Grand Hall. Please join us for an opportunity to meet Dean Melvin T. Stith and the new Associate Dean for the MBA & MS Programs Maurice Harris; tour the Whitman Building; mingle with current MBA students; and catch up with former professors and colleagues.
