Message from the Dean

Another terrific academic year has come to a close--and it has been a year of great accomplishments for the Whitman School: We inaugurated the James D. Kuhn Real Estate Center; our entrepreneurship department continues to achieve top national rankings; Whitman students competed in national competitions, and also constituted the highest percentage of community service across campus; Whitman faculty continued to produce leading-edge research; and our students had amazing experiences, including an April visit with Warren Buffett. Whitman's rising reputation was even referenced during a recent episode of HBO's "The Sopranos." Undoubtedly, more great successes lie in the years ahead.

Dave Wilemon

Outstanding Whitman Faculty

Congratulations to Dave Wilemon, the Snyder Professor of Innovation Management and Entrepreneruship, who was recently cited as one of the world's top 20 scholars in innovation management by The Journal of Product Innovation Management. The article was based on analysis of the top 14 journals in the field between 1990 and 2004. Wilemon was one of only 23 authors to have published eight or more papers in leading journals.

Whitman on Wall Street

For a finance major, there may be nothing more exciting and interesting than touring Wall Street -- and the Whitman School gives select students that opportunity every year through the Stuart Frankel & Company NYSE Scholars Program. Earlier this month, a group of undergraduate and MBA students, along with Maurice Harris, assistant professor of finance, visited with several Whitman alumni to gain a better understanding of what careers in finance and on Wall Street entail. The students also had the unique opportunity to tour the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), courtesy of Stuart Frankel & Company.
