Thanks to the Whitman IT team, we have a great web presence -- now, the Whitman School is considering undertaking a redesign of our web site to make it even more effective. We would like your invaluable input on what works and what needs to be improved. The Charles March Memorial Lecture Series

The Whitman School is pleased to announce the new Charles March Memorial Lecture Series, created by Arin March '76 in honor of his late grandfather. We have already welcomed three prestigious guests to campus for the series: On Nov. 2, John Damgard, president of the Futures Industry Association (FIA), spoke on "Insights into the Futures Markets"; on Nov. 3, William Brodsky '65, G'68, president and CEO of the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE), spoke on "Options and Futures"; and on Nov. 8, David Greenberg '86 VPA, president of Sterling Commodities Corp. and a member of the Executive Board of Directors of the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX), spoke on the energy market. We will gladly keep you posted on future speakers.

Whitman Faculty News

Congratulations to Michael Morris, the Chris J. Witting Chair in Entrepreneurship, who has been awarded the Hilton Visiting Chair at Iowa State University. The Hilton Chair is awarded annually to a distinguished scholar in a field of study that is of growing interest to the university. Congratulations also to Scott Webster, professor of supply chain management in the Marketing Department, who was recently named Outstanding Decision Science Journal Associate Editor by the Decision Science Journal editorial team for the high quality of his developmental reviews and his academic leadership in advancing decision sciences. These two recognitions are truly representative of the great work and outreach of Whitman faculty.

Outstanding Whitman Students

Whitman students in the Entrepreneurship club recently won top awards at the Collegiate Entrepreneurs Organization (CEO) conference, held in Chicago, IL., Nov. 2-4. Whitman’s E Club won $200 and the Top Chapter Award for Entrepreneurship Diffusion on Campus. This award was given for the group's strategy to recruit new members with diverse skills from other schools on the SU campus. Whitman's E Club also won $100 and the Second Place Award for Best Fundraising Event or Idea. Their winning idea was National Orange Sock Day. Lastly, the Whitman E Club won the Best Intern-for-a-day Award. Hundreds of students from more than 50 schools participated in the CEO conference. We look forward to more great accomplishments from the E Club and all other Whitman student clubs and organizations.
