The demand for lasting air freshener products that require minimal maintenance has grown exponentially as consumers lead fuller lives. Simultaneously, consumers have demonstrated increased awareness of and a desire to add ambiance and personality to their homes through décor purchases.

Spiral Systems is a provider of affordable, web-based school information systems specifically designed for K-12 private and independent schools. Spiral’s state-of-the-art system increases student participation, parental involvement, and teacher collaboration by providing email, calendaring, file storage and sharing, school directory, teacher web pages, class pages, and more. |

Third Place: Track-It

Track-It provides a system to enable bags to know their own contents. Before Track-It, Track-It’s customers ‘managed’ the items in their bags through a hit-and-miss process of manual inspection, paper check-lists, laborious and error-ridden counts, or simply packed and hoped that everything they needed was in the bag. They suffered the pain and cost of forgetting and loosing value items, which they mistakenly thought were in their bags. |

Entrepreneurial Spirit Award: Beater Bags

Created by sewing two ribbed undershirts, commonly referred to as “beaters,” together in an innovative way, BeaterBags are the only reversible, machine-washable, customizable, and at the same time, hip, bags on the market. The company, BeaterBags, will be selling not only an accessory to a wardrobe, but an accessory to the lifestyle. |

Deamer and Doers Award: Syracuse WET LCC

WATER EQUIPMENT TRANSPORTATION, LLC (“WET”) will offer bulk water delivery service to college students in a way that is convenient for students. WET is unique to the industry in that it will not make customers sign a one year contract. Rather, customers will only have to pay for the products and service while they are at school. WET will rent water cooler units (“units”) and sell 5 gallon bulk water bottles (“BWB’s”) to students. WET will deliver the units and the bottles to the students’ residences and at the same time pick up empty bottles. |

Advanced Carrier Systems, LLC offers a complete line of motorcycle, ATV, and scooter carriers and related garments under the SweetRack brand. ACS designs and develops the carriers in-house and distributes in the US through a direct Internet approach and through a network of motorcycle dealers and aftermarket accessories distributors. ACS plans to expand through aggressive marketing to develop a brand and an image targeting primarily off-road enthusiasts, particularly in the Generation Y age group - a strategy unique to the industry.

The winners represented five different schools at Syracuse and included one non-profit enterprise. We know you share our pride in all of these students. And the Spring 2002 winners ...
On April 29, the final Presentation round was held, and the prizes were awarded as follows:

All other finalist team members received gift certificates for the retail store Best Buy.
Congratulations to the winning teams, and to all finalists, for their hard work in preparing for and participating in the Competition final round! The judges enjoyed their visit to Syracuse, and found the presentations and discussion stimulating and interesting.
