The CIE Residence Hall

DellPlain Residence Hall

A cornerstone of the CIE Learning Community is the DellPlain Residence Hall environment established just for students seeking to develop and act on their creative potential. Our approach is a residence that serves as a student idea incubator, a place where students from all walks of life and all majors can generate new ideas and new approaches to topics that relate to their own personal and professional interests. It is an environment that is limited to 51 passionate students.

Our home, the DellPlain Residence Hall, is centrally located on "The Hill," and is an ideal location for the CIE community. Built in 1961, it houses 405 undergraduate men and women on eight floors, coed by alterating rooms. Floor 3 is dedicated to CIE. Rooms available are split doubles, open doubles, 4- and 2-person suites, and two regular singles per floor, with a nearby parking garage. The building has a main lounge, snack bar, study room, and laundry room. Two dining centers (Haven and Shaw) are within a two-minute walk.

The EEE Program has invested substantial sums for enhancements to support CIE, including hardware, software and infrastructure dedicated to technology resources. In addition to cosmetic improvements to the CIE floor of DellPlain, CIE enjoys the unique advantage of having its own Resource Lab, limited to use by only CIE members, including state-of-the-art PC and Mac computers, color laser printers, an LCD presentation screen and a web server. The CIE classroom, also located on the DellPlain third floor, has a state-of-the-art audio/visual system including an A/V projection cart, DCD player and plasma TV with Dolby 5.1 surround sound.
