Panasci Business Plan Deadline Extended to Dec. 17

You’ve got the idea? We’ve got the money. The Falcone Center for Entrepreneurship in the Martin J. Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University announces its annual Panasci Business Plan competition. Every year, teams create business models to compete for prizes totaling $40,000 in start-up funds. To enter, participants must complete the “intent to compete form” by the deadline, which has been extended to Dec. 17.

The Panasci Business Plan Competition is designed to spur the entrepreneurial spirit of undergraduate and graduate students across Syracuse University and the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry by offering incentives to create growth-oriented businesses. Individuals from the community may also join, but the team leader must be enrolled as a student at SU or ESF. Submissions must be the team’s original work and ideas.

Entries are judged on the innovativeness of their idea, the viability of the proposed venture, the quality and comprehensiveness of the written plan, and the quality of the oral presentation. Additionally, the team’s potential for successful implementation and sustainability of its proposed venture is a crucial factor in determining the award winners.

Students wanting business guidance in preparation for the competition can take part in the Business Plan Laboratory, a 12-week assistance workshop offered one evening a week by the Whitman School's Department of Entrepreneurship and Emerging Enterprises. Assistance will also be available from a local accounting firm and a successful entrepreneur.

To participate, complete the “intent to compete form” and an “entrant certification form” by Dec. 17. Forms are available at http://whitman.syr.edu/eee/bplan, or in the Entrepreneurship and Emerging Enterprises office, Room 116 in the Whitman School of Management, at 721 University Ave. Full business plans are due in March.
