Dr. Franklin teaches courses in Financial Accounting, Taxation and Financial Planning.  Dr. Franklin completed his undergraduate and Masters, both in accounting at the Whitman School of Management, Syracuse University and has worked at regional CPA and Financial Planning firms in the Syracuse, NY area prior to earning his Ph.D. Professionally, Dr. Franklin is a CPA and has held his NASD Series 7 and 63 Securities licenses. To recognize his outstanding teaching, Dr. Franklin has been nominated for and received numerous teaching recognitions. Dr. Franklin has published numerous articles on accounting and financial planning related topics (over 40). In addition to publishing, Dr. Franklin is very active in the media and has frequently appeared in media outlets including Reuters, MSN, CNBC, Smart Money and the Associated Press. Professionally, Dr. Franklin is a member of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants, New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants, American Accounting Association and National Association of Tax Professionals.

Franklin teaches courses in financial accounting, taxation and in the Freshman Gateway Program. Recent awards include the following:

Whitman School of Management Department of Entrepreneurship and Emergine Enterprises Dean’s Award for Outstanding Student Service (2011)

Beta Alpha Psi, Syracuse University Outstanding Faculty of the Year Award (2009, 2010, 2012)

Whitman School of Management Oberwager Prize for Outstanding Student Mentorship (2010).

University College of Syracuse University Excellence in Teaching Award (2008)

Nominee for National Society of Collegiate Scholars Inspire Integrity Award (2008)

Whitman School of Management Beta Gamma Sigma Professor of the Year (2005-2006)

Professor Franklin's research interest is in the area of financial planning and taxation.
