Now more than ever, educators must enter the classroom with a strong research orientation and broad-based knowledge of the global economy. For close to 50 years, the Whitman PhD program has produced outstanding graduates that have excelled both academically and professionally, moving on to work at some of the top academic institutions. The Whitman School provides PhD students with specialized skills in management necessary for education within six major fields of study. This includes focused independent study, working closely with Whitman faculty.

Whitman doctoral students receive the necessary resources to successfully acquire knowledge in their major area, develop skills in cutting-edge methodology, and gain valuable teaching experience. Students are funded through graduate assistantships and research support. The inextricable link between teaching and research is the focus of Whitman’s doctoral program—our ultimate goal is to shape future business school educators who will go on to influence business leaders for years to come.
