Mentoring Program
We’ve created a mentoring program to allow current students majoring in accounting (or those interested in majoring in accounting) to be matched with alumni in the accounting industry who can be used as mentor for career preparation. Please note, however, this relationship should focus on advice and counsel, and not be used to solicit employment from the mentor, unless the mentor initiates the discussion.
Should you wish to participate, you need to fill out the application. All completed applications should be provided to Mitch Franklin, assistant professor of accounting, who can be contacted at (315) 443-9641.
For more information about the mentoring program, contact Cheryl Timko cheryl.timko@gmail.com or Cindy Hand chand@kpmg.com.
Presentations to Students
Each semester, our Accounting Alumni Council and Accounting Advisory Board speak to students about the field of accounting is to inform them about different careers in accounting and advantages and disadvantages of accounting as a major and general advice about the "working world."
If you have unique experiences in the accounting field and are interested in speaking to Whitman students, contact Jared Kass at jskass@syr.edu.
Social Activities
The Whitman Accounting Alumni Council occasionally organizes informal social activities for alumni to network. The goal is to provide an informal setting where alumni can re-connect while having fun. To date, activities have been organized in New York City. Depending on demand, activities may be organized in other major cities in the future.
On February 4, 2012, over 50 accounting alumni and friends attended a happy hour and then the basketball game between Syracuse and St. John's at Madison Square Garden. Syracuse defeated St. John's in what appeared to be an SU favored crowd. Thanks for those who attended.
Be on the lookout for e-mails from the Council for future events.
If you have any ideas for future social events, contact Amy Marcello at amy.marcello@us.pwc.com.Lubin House Events

We organize events at Syracuse University's Lubin House in New York City approximately twice each year. The goal of these events is to provide more formal networking opportunities for accounting alumni. Typically, the events are organized in the summer, in order to allow our students interning in the NYC area to attend, as well as in the fall/winter, in order to allow recent alumni to attend.
The next Lubin House event has been scheduled for June 20, 2013. Come join your fellow alumni and catch up with some former SU Professors if you can. So, mark your calendars and let us know if you plan on attending.
For more information on the Lubin House Events, contact Georgiana Nertea at georgiana.nertea@eisneramper.com Tiernan Klunk at tklunk@rkco.com.
