The Whitman School is pleased to introduce the distinguished members of our Management Department Advisory Board. We thank them for their continued leadership and expertise in the field of Management.
 

Advisory Board Members

Jason Singer

Jason is a Managing Director and Lead Portfolio Manager at Goldman Sachs.  He is a senior lead portfolio manager with global oversight of multi-sector portfolios that are managed across the third party and Private Wealth Management distribution channels within the Global Fixed Income team in Goldman Sachs Asset Management (GSAM). Previously, Jason was head of International Portfolio Management within the Global Liquidity Management team based in London. He was responsible for portfolio management and trading across all international money market and short duration strategies. Jason joined Goldman Sachs in 1999 in GSAM, where he covered fixed-income pricing, mortgage analytics and hedge fund financing. He was named managing director in 2008. Jason earned a BA in Finance and Entrepreneurship from Syracuse University and a master's degree in mathematical finance from Columbia University.  Jason, along with Kris Scholl, is a co-founder and co-chair of the Management Department Advisory Board.

Kristopher Scholl

Kris is the Technical Director of Deschutes Brewery, the fifth largest craft brewery in the nation, and oversees and guides all functions and activities related to brewing, cellaring, packaging, maintenance and quality control. He joined Deschutes in early 2013 after nearly 16 years with Anheuser-Busch Inbev, where he was most recently the Director of Global Brewing and Quality for Asia and Latin America. Kris holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Missouri University of Science and Technology; an MBA from Syracuse University; and has completed the Master Brewers Program at UC Davis. He also holds a brewing diploma from the Institute of Brewing and Distilling in London. Kris and his wife, Kenesia, live in Bend, Oregon.  Kris, along with Jason Singer, is a co-founder and co-chair of the Management Department Advisory Board.

Michael Blackshear

Michael Blackshear currently serves as Marsh’s National Government Affairs and Regulator Compliance Officer.  Marsh & McLennan Companies is a global team of professional service companies offering clients advice and solutions in the areas of risk, strategy, and human capital.  Marsh, one of the operating companies, is a global leader in insurance broking and risk management. 

Scott Davis

Scott Davis is the Executive Vice President & Chief Concept Officer responsible for bringing the customer experience alive multi-dimensionally in Panera's bakery-cafés. His work includes the ongoing evolution of the Panera Bread concept for which he draws on longtime experience at Panera as well as his time with Saint Louis Bread Co. where, in 1996, he spearheaded the creation of its new prototype bakery-cafe.

He joined Au Bon Pain Co. as a Store Manager in 1987. In 1993 he became New Concept Manager and led the development of the company's Choices concept. In 1995, he was tapped to create an R & D team for Saint Louis Bread Co. which later became known as Panera Bread as it expanded nationally. Davis was named Vice-President that same year and has since led the Panera Concept Team. In May 2010 he was named Executive Vice President and has recently been honored by Nation's Restaurant News with its 2011 MenuMasters Innovator Award.

Britta Riede Harrison

Britta is a Senior Manager in Accenture Technology Consulting. In 2011, she was named the North American Specialty Lead for Accenture’s Enterprise Application Security practice.  Britta’s role within Accenture is twofold:

1) Consulting Services – As a Senior Manager Britta is responsible for client facing activities driven by projects. Britta’s core expertise is around SAP Security design and deployments and implementation of Risk Management models and respective system.

2) North American Specialty Lead – Britta is responsible for forecasting recruiting and specific skill needs for the North American Enterprise Application Security practice. Also, she ensures resources are staffed accordingly to projects to allow for an effective practice growth model.

Britta Riede completed her MBA at Syracuse University in 2002. She also completed an MS in Information Systems and Decision Science from Louisiana State University in 2003.

Arthur F. Grant

Arthur F. Grant is President and CEO of Cadaret, Grant & Co., Inc., a privately-owned independent broker/dealer based in Syracuse, New York that services over 900 financial advisors nationwide. He founded the firm in 1985, after beginning a career in the securities industry in 1966, including a vice presidency at Sanford C. Bernstein & Co. (AllianceBernstein). He is a past chairman of the National Endowment for Financial Education (NEFE) and past member of the Board of Directors of the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA). He is a former chairman of the New England district of the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA). He is a past president, and current honorary board member, of the Everson Museum of Art in Syracuse. He is a graduate of Baruch College. In 2008, Mr. Grant was named one of the financial industry’s 25 most influential people on Investment Advisor magazine’s IA 25.

Manita Singh

Manita Singh is the Global Sourcing Manager, for Apple Products at Apple Inc. in Cupertino, CA.  She is responsible for complete ownership of profitable product life cycle management, from initial forecasting to EOL disposition.  Manita has developed and executed strategic sourcing activities for key suppliers by integrating input from Apple's product design and development organization, and acted as a key interface between Engineering, WW Materials, strategic suppliers and Apple contract manufacturers.  She has managed the spending of a $500MM budget, cultivated vendor relationships for Apple products, and globally negotiated $60MM savings on annual expenses.  Manita has also collaborated with Engineering for new product development strategy and implementation, optimizing material selection to maintain lowest cost, predictable availability, and industry leadership in quality.

Steven Granat

Steven is the Director, Global Alliances, for EMC Corporation a $22b leader in information technology. He is responsible for overseeing a global team of 15 in the USA, EMEA, Latin America, APJ, and works with all levels of management to support, nurture and grow relationships. Steven has worked at EMC since 2001 in a variety of positions including Channel, Alliances, and business development. As part of his responsibility Steven is responsible for developing new solutions to jointly take to market including software as a service. Prior to EMC, Steven held several senior level sales & Marketing positions in the multimedia manufacturing, outsourcing, and internet industries. Steven is a graduate of SU.

Stephen A. Bell

Stephen Bell is a Senior Engineering Specialist with FedEx Express.  He provides system form support for the US Export market; assists in determining flight routes and product flows; makes recommendations to senior management; and develops custom engineering solutions for customers.  He has successfully executed test shipment for LED Cool Lights, exceeding customer’s expectations and ensuring future revenue.  Stephen has performed detailed analysis in support of the Sydney 6th Frequency decision, providing service, payload, and financial information.  He was also the lead USI engineer for effort to improve service for the All-Americas to Korea lane, resulting in faster transit and increased market share.
