Financial Aid

Scholarship opportunities for students in MS Finance program are available. Students may also apply for the student assistant positions which are paid on the hourly basis and do not carry any other benefits such as tuition and health insurance.

Loan Programs Whitman full-time MS students may apply for several loan programs to cover the cost of attendance.

  • Federal Direct Loan Program
  • Federal PLUS Loans
  • Alternative Loan Programs

Federal Direct Loan Program
The Federal Direct Loan Program provides long-term, low-interest, need-based loans that are available from local banks and other lending institutions. Repayment is deferred while students are attending school at least half-time.
Applicants for this program must submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online. Applicants should be sure to instruct the processor to send a processed copy to Syracuse University by filling in the school code of 002882. Students should not wait for an admissions response from SU before filing the FAFSA.

Graduate PLUS Loan
The Graduate PLUS Loan is federally-backed program by the US government. This loan is largely dependent on the borrower's credit rating and history. Repayment is deferred while students are attending school at least half-time.

Applicants for this program must submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Applicants should be sure to instruct the processor to send a processed copy to Syracuse University by filling in the school code of 002882.

Alternative Loan Programs
Loan programs offered by private organizations are available to U.S. citizens and U.S. permanent residents to supplement other forms of financial aid. It is not necessary to file a FAFSA for these programs.
