SU Students who are interested in pursuing the Microsoft Office Specialist Excel certification are able to utilize the Lynda.com instructional materials and the Gmetrix SMS practice exam engine, deployed to campus public labs, to prepare for the MOS Excel Certification exam. Here's what you should do:

Whitman's recommendation is that you pass 5 different Gmetrix exams with a score of 800 or better in Testing mode in order to be adequately prepared. At least one of these practice exams should be in Project format.

Utilizing Gmetrix requires a special account. Please use the form at http://whitman.syr.edu/wsmhelp/forms/gmetrix-non-whit.aspx to request that an account be created for you.

Certify

Once you're prepared, pick a date on the Exam Schedule Calendar on this page, and register to take the exam!

Exams which are open to all SU students are given the last friday of each month this semester in room 009 in Whitman. The cost is $90 per test candidate.

Once you register, please understand that you are expected to be in attendance 10 minutes prior to the start of the exam. Please bring your SU ID card for identity verification.

Prior to your arrival at the exam location on the day of your test, please take a few minutes to create a Certiport account, which you will use to sign in and take the exam. To do this, visit http://www.certiport.com and click the green "Register" button at the very top of the page.
