Meet the Whitman Undergraduate staff

Our Undergraduate Office is available to you throughout your undergraduate career.  Meet individually with Academic Advisors, who assist with your four-year planning and provide additional support. You should meet with an academic advisor on a regular basis to check on the status of your degree requirements.

Our office is also the home of your academic records. You may see your records at any time; no one else (other than office staff and your faculty/major advisor) may see your records without your written permission. You are advised to check your records at least once a year to be sure everything has been recorded correctly. It is your responsibility to confirm the fact that you will satisfy degree requirements. Our advisors are able to go through your records with you to ensure that you clearly understand requirements you still have outstanding.

Rachel is the director of undergraduate recruitment for the Whitman School. She leads Whitman’s efforts to recruit diverse and talented first-year students and intra-university transfer students. Rachel earned her B.S. in finance from the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland and her M.S. in higher education from Syracuse University.

As assistant dean for undergraduate programs, Lindsay Quilty is responsible for the overall management and operations of the undergraduate office and programs in addition to oversight of the recruitment strategy. Lindsay has her master's in higher education administration from The George Washington University and bachelor's from the University of Miami. Lindsay loves football, especially the Washington Redskins and Miami Hurricanes!

Stephanie Ellis advises students in the Marshall House of the IMPRESS program. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Sociology from Nazareth College and a Master's in Higher Education Administration with a concentration in Student Affairs from the University of Rochester. Stephanie enjoys spending time outdoors with her three dogs, Emma, Jackson, and Ellie and is a fan of the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Erica Gromny Volino

Erica L. Gromny Volino is the administrative specialist for the Office of Undergraduate Programs.  Erica graduated from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University in 2008 with a Bachelors of Science, magna cum laude, in Television Radio & Film. Erica is a life-long resident of the Syracuse area and is the second generation in her family to graduate from and work at the University.

Denise Johns

Denise Johns advises students in the Harrison House of the IMPRESS program. She holds a Bachelor's degree in Speech Communication from SUNY Potsdam and a Master's in Integrated Marketing Communications from Nazareth College. Denise enjoys running local races and spending time with her dog, Bodie.

Kari Morrow

Kari Morrow is the Whitman School's IMPRESS program manager, responsible for all activities associated with the program, which encompasses the active engagement of all 1,800+ undergraduate students. Previously, she worked for the Johnson Museum of Art at Cornell University where she was the coordinator of student engagement. She has her master of arts degree from Syracuse University and a bachelor's degree from Cazenovia College.

Liz is the Academic Advisor for Whitman students dually enrolled in the iSchool, Newhouse, or Arts & Sciences. She also advises students pursuing the 3+3 track with the College of Law. In her position, Liz helps students understand degree requirements and provides guidance as they navigate the complexities of a dual program. In addition, Liz manages the first term enrollment process for incoming freshmen and transfer students. Liz received a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from SUNY Brockport and a Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration from the University of Rochester.

Bruce Williams

Bruce Williams advises students with majors in management and supply chain management, as well as students in the Waverly House of the IMPRESS program. Most recently, he was an academic counselor in the College of Arts & Sciences and spent time in the Syracuse Athletics Department as an academic coordinator. He has both his master's and bachelor's degrees from Syracuse University.
