Michael J. Falcone is chairman emeritus and founder of the Pioneer Companies, headquartered in Syracuse, New York. He has built a career in real estate and development, forming the Pyramid Companies in 1969, the Pioneer Group in 1975 and the Pioneer Development Company in 1987. In the summer of 1998, Pioneer transformed again and is now known as The Pioneer Companies.

Falcone graduated from Syracuse University in 1957 with a degree in business. He served on the Board of Trustees for 20 years, and the Whitman School’s Falcone Center for Entrepreneurship is named after him. He is a board member of the New York State Business Council and has previously served as chairman of the board of directors of First National Bank of Rochester and the board of directors of Keystone Property Trust. He has served on numerous other boards and has received several awards, including the Mayor’s Achievement Award for Syracuse, the Syracuse University Jonathan Holtz Alumnus of the Year award and the Temple Adath Citizen of the Year award.
