Carl Reimerdes '63 (ESF)


Carl Reimerdes is a private investor in Montauk, New York. For 30 years, he and his Syracuse University college friend, John Couri, were partners in Duty Free International, which they founded in 1983. Duty Free International became a $674 million retail chain with nearly 2,500 employees. After leading the company through several public offerings, the company was eventually sold to a British conglomerate. Reimerdes is active in Montauk community and supports preservation and the arts, among other interests.
