Professor Brian Ward, Ph.D., earned his MBA from Syracuse University and his doctorate in Industrial/ Organizational Psychology from Walden University. He has taught management and entrepreneurship courses for over 16 years at SUNY Cortland, including Principles of Management, Human Resource Management, Strategic Management, Operations and Supply Chain Management and Entrepreneurship. He also teaches Entrepreneurship in the MBA program at Syracuse University. He spent 45 years in the business world in various management positions. Dr. Ward worked through progressive management positions for 10 years in food retailing with a major Midwest grocery chain and then as CEO of the American Dairy Association, a commodity marketing organization, for 10 years. He retired as CEO of a 100% employee owned (ESOP) manufacturing and marketing company in the sporting goods industry, when the company was sold, after serving in that capacity for 15 years. Dr. Ward is currently a partner in two entrepreneurial businesses in the greater Cortland, NY area. One of these businesses is a coffee and bagel store that is managed daily by his partner and is being developed for multi- unit expansion. The other is a real estate business focused on the development of single-family mid-market homes as well as upscale student housing for foreign students studying in the U.S. He also continues to consult with several small businesses in the Central NY area as well as within the sporting goods industry.
