IMPRESS FAQs

What is IMPRESS?

IMPRESS is a program that quantifies extracurricular activities, promotes healthy competition, and prepares Whitman students to be the best business professionals they can be.

How do I become a member of IMPRESS?

All newly admitted Whitman students are automatically included in the IMPRESS program.

What are the IMPRESS houses?

IMPRESS houses are not physical houses, but a cohort of students on the same “team.”  Students earn individual IMPRESS points; however, these points count toward their team or house points as well.

How were the names of the houses chosen?

The IMPRESS houses are named after the four parallel streets at the base of campus: Waverly Avenue, Marshall Street, Adams Street and Harrison Street.

How do I earn an IMPRESS score?

Whitman students earn an IMPRESS score by attending extracurricular events scheduled throughout the year by the Whitman Undergraduate Office. These events include leadership lectures and workshops, guest speakers, and professional and personal development sessions.

What is the top IMPRESS score?

The top IMPRESS score is 1,870 points, however diligent students can earn beyond this point total. (1870 is the year Syracuse University was founded.)

How do I know which IMPRESS events are coming up?

All Whitman students have access to the IMPRESS calendar, which highlights the IMPRESS events for the current semester.  Students can ask their academic advisor or house master for information as well.
