Torrens comments on JOBS act, startups, and crowdfunding


John Torrens, professor of entrepreneurship at the Whitman School of Management, was quoted in a September 23rd Nerd Wallet Investing story regarding the future of equity crowdfunding and how it will impact investors and startups moving forward. On Monday, Title II of the JOBS Act went into effect, which allows startup companies to publicly advertise for crowdfunding investment. Torrens said he believes the idea of crowdfunding is an admirable goal, but he foresees several problems with the regulations by which the startup would be forced to abide.
