Whitman’s Management Department Advisory Board honors alums Blackshear ’91, Riede ’02 MBA

The Management Department Advisory Board at Syracuse University’s Martin J. Whitman School of Management recently honored alumni Michael Blackshear ’91 and Britta Riede ’02 MBA for their dedication and leadership as members of the board. Blackshear and Riede were recognized at the Management Department’s Leadership Dinner held Thursday, April 3rd, in the Milton Room at the Whitman School.

Blackshear serves as the North American chief compliance officer of ACE USA. A seasoned professional with more than 20 years of financial service and executive experience, he is responsible for providing leadership and management within the North American Office of General Counsel (OGC). OGC is responsible for developing and maintaining an effective compliance program designed to establish compliance standards and to monitor, detect, and prevent compliance deficiencies.

Prior to joining ACE, Blackshear held various leadership roles for Marsh & McLennan Companies, focusing on government affairs and compliance. Michael also held management advisory roles for both KPMG and PricewaterhouseCoopers.

Blackshear obtained his JD from Fordham Law School in 1998; MBA from St. John’s University School of Risk Management, Insurance, and Actuarial Science in 1995; and BS in finance from Whitman in 1991.

Riede is a senior manager in Accenture Technology Consulting. In 2011, she was named the North American specialty lead for Accenture’s Enterprise Application Security practice. Britta’s role within Accenture is twofold. As a senior manager, she is responsible for client-facing activities driven by projects. Riede’s core expertise is on SAP Security design and deployments and implementation of risk management models and respective systems. As North American specialty lead, Riede is responsible for forecasting recruiting and specific skill needs for the North American Enterprise Application Security practice.

Also, she ensures resources are staffed accordingly to projects to allow for an effective practice growth model.

Riede completed her MBA at Whitman in 2002. She also completed an MS in information systems and decision science from Louisiana State University in 2003.
