Orange Tank Pitch Competition

Orange Tank: Alumni & Student Pitch Competition

Orange Tank is a Shark Tank-style competition held over Orange Central Homecoming Weekend. Current students and alumni entrepreneurs from the Whitman School of Management can enter to win a chance to pitch their business idea to a panel of judges and ultimately win cash prizes. Both the student and alumni pitches will be awarded $5,000 for 1st place; $2,000 for 2nd place; and $1,000 for 3rd place. Orange Tank is sponsored by generous gifts from Mark '83 and Judi '84 (VPA) Morris. The event will take place on October 19 in Whitman's Flaum Grand Hall.

The following are requirements for all candidates entering the Orange Tank pitch competition

  • Can be an established business OR an idea
  • Must be a Whitman School of Management student or alumni (home college)
  • Candidates must submit an application form by Friday, September 14 at 11:59 p.m. EDT

Submit Your Orange Tank Application

A committee will review all applications submitted online by and notify finalists selected to pitch by the end of September. During the competition, you will have five minutes to pitch, followed by five minutes of Q&A from the judges. 

Criteria that judges will be looking for:

  • Market potential
  • Differentiation and economic feasibility
  • Ability to protect intellectual property, technology
  • Sound execution strategy
  • Scalability of the business
  • Proposed use of finances
  • Expertise and abilities of the founder/s
  • Quality of pitch
